July Systems

Duration: - 8 May to 7 July (2 months)
Client: - Leading sports news website

Description: -
This project was done by me during my 2 months summer internship in July Systems, Bangalore.
Starting from the reading official design guidelines of Android 4.0, iOS and Windows Phone 7 thoroughly, I first tried to understand the different UI elements of the three, which should be used when and how, by using the three. Later on, I studied client website – which and how content is shown on different pages, how grouping of content and pages is done etc. Then similarly I studied its app on ipad which was designed just some months before and last, I studied the similar apps on same platforms.
Then, on the basis of content information given by the client, a basic Information Architecture was made. It went through different changes by the time. Five different iterations of personalization strategy were made. This strategy was about how user will access the personalized content filtered by their choice. One out of these five was chosen by the client.
Wire-frames played the major role for me in this project because they were gone through many refinements. Whenever a set of pages were completed, my mentor used to check it properly and tell me some changes and after correcting them, these were sent to client. Each time suggestions given by the client were discussed between me and mentor and then we usually came with some conclusion and I used to document it. By comparing my initial and final wireframes, I can say that user-experience and visual sense wise this whole process helped me a lot. There were a lot of pages, features and possible stats in the apps. So, I made a lot of wireframes for each of the platform which worked for me a good exercise for learning the UI guidelines.
